Design Renovation Maintenance About
Curtis Horticulture

Design / Consulting

Curtis Horticulture offers design and consulting services, specializing in native and drought-tolerant landscapes that are attractive, practical and ecologically sound. Design services range from informal consultations to detailed design plans. Each design is created based on individual site characteristics in addition to the preferences and lifestyle of the clients. The integration of aesthetics, horticultural expertise and an understanding of maintenance requirements is the key to a successful landscape.

Design Process

Consultation and assessment
An initial consultation allows us to exchange ideas and assess the scope of the project and desired elements in order to prepare a written design proposal. This meeting will also allow us to determine if an informal sketch may be all that's required, and a shortened design process may continue on an hourly basis. (Initial consultations are billed at the current hourly rate, payable upon visit.)

Design program
After acceptance of the design proposal, more specific information will be gathered from the client and the site. Desired elements, use of the space, design style and budget are the primary items discussed during this meeting.

Conceptual plan phase
A base map of the property will be drawn which shows a rough layout of the various elements of the design and general plant types. During this phase, the client gives their feedback on the elements shown in the conceptual plan.

Master plan phase
A master plan, drawn to scale, is generated from the approved conceptual plan. The master plan shows the placement of each plant, exact dimensions of all hardscape features and design details. A specifications sheet is included that defines plant species (botanical and common names) and quantities, soil and mulch materials, and details on the methods and process of installation.

For a seamless project, Curtis Horticulture also offers installation service, ensuring the success of your new landscape.
