Curtis Horticulture offers landscape architecture and consulting services, specializing in landscapes that are attractive, practical and ecologically sound. Our designs reflect the characteristics inherent in the site, the architecture of the home, and the lifestyle and preferences of the client.

Our firm is uniquely suited to provide landscape architecture services that emphasize the judicious use of plantings, in addition to built elements, to create landscapes that respond intelligently to the needs of our clients. The integration of aesthetics, horticultural expertise and an understanding of maintenance requirements is the key to a successful landscape.

Design Process

Consultation and assessment
An initial consultation allows us to exchange ideas and assess the scope of the project and desired elements in order to prepare a written design proposal. The design proposal outlines the goals of the project as well as the fees for design work. (Initial consultations are billed at the current hourly rate, payable upon visit.)

Conceptual plan
After acceptance of the design proposal, more specific information will be gathered from the client and the site. A site analysis identifies opportunities and constraints of the site and allows us to thoughtfully integrate the desired elements into the conceptual plan. The conceptual plan identifies design elements and themes that will be more fully developed in further stages of the design.

Final plans and design documentation
Final plans are generated from the approved conceptual plan. The final plans provide information necessary for the construction of the project. All elements of the plan are drawn to scale and exact placement of design elements are carefully considered. Construction details will be provided to the extent agreed upon in the scope of work.

Arborist services

Stephanie Curtis, ISA Certified Arborist, can provide an arborist report to submit to your city, recommendations on the proper care and pruning of your trees, or suggestions for tree species that are best suited for your property.
